Honolulu Burger Co.

Honolulu Burger Co. (I already covered them in another post) opened a new location closer to my house in Hawaii, across the street from Kahala Mall. When I was home for the holidays this year, I took my sister Lana out to dinner there.

Blue Hawaii Burger

Lana always gets blue cheese on her burgers so she ordered the “Blue Hawaii Burger,” supposedly the place’s top-selling item. It comes with the cheese as well as bacon and sautéed sweet onion. All of the burgers come with local lettuce and Big Island tomato. There are so many good locally inspired items that it was difficult for me to choose a burger (this really happens to me way too often) but I went with the “Miso Kutie,” topped with red miso glaze and Japanese cucumber slices and chopped red onion. The burger felt very light with these toppings.

Sweet Potato Fries Honolulu Burger Co.

We also shared an order of their sweet potato fries, served with Big Island honey mustard dip. These were addicting; good thing we shared, or I’m sure I would have scarfed down a full order on my own!
